SARI WELCOMES THE PALESTINE NATIONAL WOMEN’S TEAM

SARI welcomes the Palestine national women's team to Ireland for their match this evening against Bohemian FC. This match highlights the important role sport can play in showing solidarity, building meaningful relationships and uniting people during difficult times.

We are witnessing wars, conflict and horrific violence around the world, and the consequences of this are felt far and wide. For the last 27 years, SARI has been using sport as a way of encouraging diversity and inclusion in Ireland, and recognises the potential sport has in supporting the physical and mental well-being of those fleeing conflict. Many of those involved in our programmes have been personally impacted by these atrocities. 

As Nelson Mandela said, 'Sport has the power to unite when little else does'. With that, we'd like to mark this historic match in Dublin, illustrating Ireland's capacity to embrace difference and celebrate diversity through sport.
